Leather was once available in only a few colors – the natural shade of the hide, in tan, white, brown, black and gray.
But now just look at the array of colors that Lucrin has for its products. It got me to thinking, how do they dye the leather?
It turns out that it is a fairly simple, yet time-intensive process:
- Clean the leather’s surface
- Dampen it with water
- Apply the leather dye in even coats until you achieve the shade you want
- Move the leather while its drying to make sure the color is even
- Once dry, buff the leather with a clean cloth
- Apply an even layer of finish
So, next time when you’re considering that credit card holder, go for the fuchsia (pictured above). It is totally worth it!
